The blue badge on a Slowly profile indicates that the account has been verified with a government-issued ID. This badge helps build trust among users while still allowing you to remain private behind your chosen nickname and avatar, creating a safer and more authentic community for everyone.
How does the verification process work?
We partner with Stripe and Veriff, a trusted and reliable identity verification provider, to handle the ID verification process. Here’s how it works:
- Scan a government-issued ID and take a selfie: You’ll scan a valid photo ID, then take a selfie to make sure it’s yours.
- Verify your ID: Your ID will be checked for authenticity. Once verified, your Date of Birth will be applied to your profile.
- Receive the blue badge: After the verification is complete, a blue badge will appear on your profile, confirming that your account has been successfully ID-verified.
Both Stripe and Veriff are legally and contractually obligated to use your data solely for the purpose of verifying your identity for Slowly, ensuring your information remains secure and private.
How can I get verified?
The ID verification feature is being rolled out in phases and is currently available only in specific countries and to Plus users. You can check the list of supported countries here: Stripe | Veriff
If the service is available to you, follow these steps to get verified in the app:
- Go to
in the bottom menu
- Tap
in the top right corner
- Find ID Verification and tap Get Verified.
Note: Users under the age of 18 cannot complete ID verification due to legal requirements that prevent us from collecting identification information from minors.
Will I lose my badge if I update my profile?
Once verified, you will not be able to update your Date of Birth. However, you can still update other details in your profile. Your blue badge will remain as long as you keep the same account.
Please note that the blue badge is non-transferable between accounts. If you delete your current account and create a new one, you will need to verify again. If you lose access to your verified account, please contact us for assistance.
How long will you keep my information?
We use Stripe and Veriff to verify your identity, so your data is stored with Stripe or Veriff and managed according to their respective data retention policies. For more details on how your data is stored, how to request data deletion, and how your information is protected, please refer to their data retention policies: Stripe | Veriff.
